Bertha L. Medina & Carlos J. Burruezo, Owners As a child, art became an important component of Bertha's life. A high school drop-out, Bertha relied on her interest in art to remain grounded and focused. Eventually, Bertha went on to earn her G.E.D., a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature, as well as a Master's Degree in secondary education. After teaching middle-school age children, Bertha returned to school and earned a law degree. In August 2006, after nearly five years of law practice, Bertha developed the idea of founding an art studio for children, families and adults. Bertha's dream was to create an environment where each person -- like her -- could find and explore their artistic side. In May 2007, My Art Studio opened its doors. It's a one-of-a-kind venue where individuals can find the artist in themselves, utilizing every imaginable art medium. |

The My Art Studio Kids Maya, Malcolm & Lola -- They are the My Art Studio kids whose imagination, distinct personalities and creativity helped inspire the Studio's design. Maya is the quiet one, the deep-thinker, the one who makes you wonder what colors make up her paint palette. Malcolm is the sensitive one, whose good looks and witty charm draws you in the moment he takes center stage. Lola, a.k.a "Triple-Threat," is the spunky, out-going talker who possesses a gift in not just art, but also athletics and academics! |
Our Purpose Our purpose is simple -- to connect kids to the arts. If there is one indelible truth, it is that everyone is innately an artist. As we grow from children to adults, that gift that each of us possesses slowly becomes smothered and eventually buried by the unavoidable barrage of those things we call, "life experiences." As the founders of My Art Studio, we believe that our goal as parents, community leaders, business partners and teachers must be to encourage, facilitate and inspire our children to dream and use their imagination. Indeed, our children's dreams will serve as a catalyst to assist them in achieving anything and everything to which they put their minds. |
